Last week's initiation of "DQYD Top 5" was more fun to make than I think any of us anticipated, so we've decided to keep the trend going!
This week's "DQYD Top 5" is inspired by our guest, Bailey Rideout. If you haven't listened to the episode yet, Bailey is a graphic designer/wedding stationary artist (see her website here), so we set out to make our top 5 lists of our favorite wedding related items.
Do you agree with our picks? Let us know in the comments below, and feel free to add your own top 5 list of wedding favorites!
Farrin's Top 5 Bachelor/Bachelorette Party Do's & Don'ts
It's wedding season part 2 (look it up, fall is where it's at for weddings)! Before the pomp and flair of a couples Big Day, there's plenty of things that need to get done behind the scenes. During all of the planning, booking, tasting, and reserving, couples deserve a bit of a break. That's where my top 5 list takes us, Top 5 dos and don'ts for Bachelor and Bachelorette parties!
Pick 5: Do something awesome with your friends!
Get together with your buds for some awesome times, be it a baseball game, a painting class, going to a concert, or just a board game night, your friends are going to take your mind off of the stress of planning a wedding.
Pick 4: Don't hire "People of Ill Repute"
...keep it clean if you know what I mean. A hooker is probably not your best bet for a good time no matter what the graffiti on the bathroom stall says. For a good time, call an Uber or Lyft to your favorite place instead of the partially legible name on the stall door.
Pick 3: Do get the crew to treat the Boo
It's their day/night so make sure they don't have to spend a dime (unless...that's their wish or something?).
Pick 2: Don't get injured...or injure someone.
We've seen the movies, The Hangover, Rough Night, Girls Trip. Sure, it makes for a great story, but maybe not a great photo on the wedding day.
Pick 1: Do have the best time you can have in 12-72 hours!
That's it! All there is to say on the matter!
Nathan's Top 5 Theme Weddings
Pick 5: Transformers
Nothing says “I love you” more than letting your soon to be life partner dress up like an 80’s cartoon character that turns into a semi on your big day. I feel like there could be some potential with a transforming cake or at the very least…having a cool car take you away at the end so you can have a good cry.
Pick 4: Power Rangers
Combining with a friend to create something stronger than what you were before can be symbolic to what a marriage stands for…is what I would say if I was trying to convince my fiancé to let my best friends and I dress up like space ninjas on our wedding day.
Pick 3: Mortal Kombat
The first video game I ever played with my wife was Mortal Kombat and we have been trying to best each other in games ever since. Fighting will happen in every relationship so why not start the big day celebrating virtualy ripping each others head off?
Pick 2: Game of Thrones
Soooo weddings may not be the show’s strong point, however you shouldn’t let that stop you from calling eachother “My moon and stars” for the day. Bonus points if you’re marrying your brother/sister/aunt/nephew!
Pick 1: Bioshock
There is something eerily romantic about the destroyed underwater city of Atlas. There’s smooth jazz, fine art, a serene background. Just remember to drop any potential slicers from the guest list. Also this may be your best chance to get your bride to be to call you “Big Daddy”!
Drew's Top 5 Wedding Songs
With my wedding day fast approaching, and most of the hard stuff already taken care of, wedding songs have definitely been on my mind. So naturally, my list will reflect that.
Pick 5: Cake - Love You Madly
Traditional? Maybe not, but a good one nonetheless. Not to mention it's catchy. Or it may just be me... I can't speak for everyone, but Cake is a band that I've loved since the 90s, and this song will definitely be on my wedding playlist. (hint hint, Devon)
Pick 4: Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell - Ain't No Mountain High Enough
If this song doesn't scream love, I don't know what does.
A song about doing literally anything for your significant other. No obstacles will stand in your way. An oldie, and definitely a goodie.
Pick 3: Maroon 5 - Sugar
I mean... even the music video of the song has weddings in it. The lyrics " I don't wanna be needing your love" strike home with me especially, as (some of you may know already) the first few years of my relationship were spent long-distance.
Long distance is hard, but it can work. Dev and I are living proof of that, if there ever was any.
Pick 2: Etta James - At Last
I'll be honest, this song was immediately in my head when I thought about making this list.
Everyone's heard it, even if you don't notice it from the name alone. It's iconic. It's the epitome of what a "wedding song" would be.
Pick 1: Ed Sheeran - Tenerife Sea
I know there may be "better" songs out there, but really, this one is for my bride-to-be, Devon.
She is a huge fan of Ed Sheeran, and frankly, I like the guy too. It's a great first dance song for the big day.
