Historical Reenactments and Carlton Lassitor

Detective Carlton Lassitor, AKA Lassie, from the Santa Barbara Police Department lives a life of entertainment and confusion.

If you don’t have any idea who I’m talking about, take yourself back to the USA show ‘PSYCH’ Also known as the world’s greatest psychic detective show ever.

What I know about historical reenactments have come from a fictional TV show. There were talks about them in high school, but I’ve never seen one in person.

My dad is a big history guy. He loves watching anything on the history channel, and he always is watching some show about a war, or historical period. When I lived with him, which I did until I was almost 30 (don’t judge me) we would usually watch some TV together, when I wasn’t working, at the gym, or seeing friends before I left the state. We would watch these reenactments of war, and for me they would just be something to pass the time. For my dad, it was entertainment.

It was entertainment for me when my favorite show had reenactments as a story arc, and Psych Did It perfectly. Murder, fake psychic detectives, and a whole bunch of historical actors combined and you have a masterpiece.

This is one of my favorite episodes of the show for many reasons, which include Shawn “glamping” and Gus dressed up to look as if he’s running the marching band, but it’s mainly the passion and dedication that these actors have for their parts.

Reenactments are a big production, everything must be as authentic as possible, and to do so they go without a lot. The time that it takes to set everything up alone must be insane. Gathering the things you need, making those you can’t find. It’s a huge, time consuming hobby. But a super interesting one.

If you have the time, I’d watch the episode Weekend Warriors of Psych, you won’t regret it. Also, give a shout out to the man himself, Brandon Vigliarolo and I’m sure he will let you know what’s up!
